Itinerary:
Day 1: Manali – Atal Tunnel- Kaza
Our journey will begin at a very early hour, departing from Manali with a group of our vehicles, before heading toward the picturesque city of Kaza (3,800 meters) and a 7-hour journey through Atal Tunnel and Kunzum Pass will bring the group to Kaza. After arriving in Kaza we stop to rest for the night in our homestay in a cozy setting, eating near the Bukhari and warming up in the cold and windy evenings. Also, we use this day to become familiar with the altitude in Spiti by drinking plenty of water and taking short walks around.
Day 2: Kaza- Pin Valley- Dhankar- Tabo
From Kaza We then moved to discover Pin Valley. We head towards Mudh, which is located in a mountain village located in the Pin Valley of the Spiti District. Pin Valley is famous due to its Pin Valley National Park, home of the snow leopard as well as Siberian Ibex. With its high reaches and glaciers to which humans don’t travel, Pin Valley might just be the highlight of your journey! Mudh is the only motorable village located on the eastern side of the Indian subcontinent. It is also an ideal base for many long-distance treks, which include but is not restricted to the renowned Pin Bhaba Pass Trek. It is famous for its pink flowers that are known by the name of Sia Mentok, Mudh is an enchanting place which is bound to make you wonder! From Mudh we’ll move towards Dhankar Monastery. Dhankar was at one time the capital of administrative power in Spiti prior to its change to Kaza. We walk through the village and take a tour of through the Dhankar Gompa situated asymmetrically on the cliff’s top. This fort perched on a hill overlooking the Spiti Valley was also used to serve as a prison in the past. After spending some wonderful moments at this peaceful monastery, we then head toward Tabo where the Dalai Lama has expressed his desires to Tabo Monastery due to the fact that it is believed to be among those most revered. After a long day of travel before finally getting to take a rest in a hotel located in Tabo.
Day 3: Tabo- Komic- Hikkim- Langza- Key- Kaza
Today we will visit some of the most populous regions in the globe. Our first stop in Komic which is a translation of the word “eye of a snowcock’. Komic is also the highest motorable village in the world, with a staggering high of 4,587m! After taking a break to enjoy the beautiful village, we will head to Hikkim in the world, where the tallest Post Office in the entire world can be found. Also, we will go to Langza located at an altitude of 4,400m. After arriving at Langza you are free to wander around and see the old Lang that is a temple with a history of at least 1,000 years. You can also view the marine fossils that have been discovered on the sedimentary rock. After lunch, we’ll go to Key known for its stunning Key Monastery located in the middle of the almost perpendicular ridges. It is also the biggest Gelugpa Sect Monastery located in Spiti. Key also serves as a center of training for Lamas. If you can spend a few hours in the quiet and peaceful atmosphere of this monastery could be an unforgettable experience that you’ll remember for the rest of your life. We return to Kaza and you’re free to browse the bazaar of Kaza and pick up souvenirs for your loved ones and family. Return to our hotel to eat dinner and get a night’s rest.
Day 4: Kaza- Kibber- Chicham- Kunzum La- Chandratal
From Kaza the next destination is to Kibber. Kibber is also the home of the majestic snow leopard, and is a stunning view at the Kanamo Peak which rises to 19,600 feet. From Kibber we take a tour of one of the most famous bridges, Chicham Bridge, the highest bridge in Asia and take in the stories of the traditional method of using pulley trolleys. We continue to travel through the smallest village of Spitiwhich is Losar and arrive at the highest motorable mountain in India. pass, which is the only one that connects Kullu along with Lahaul and Spiti valleyand Kunzum La at a height of 15,000 feet. At Kunzum La, we travel to one of the most picturesque places in Spiti Valley- the stunning Chandratal Lake, popularly known as the moon’s lake. The sparkling lake is not a visible water source, so we assume that the water in this lake comes from the underground. We stay in our camps, and then spend the night stargazing at the countless stars on a night that is clear.
Day 5: Chandratal- Chhatru- Atal Tunnel- Manali
In celebration of our final night in Spiti Valley, leave from the Chandratal Lake journey towards Batal in the city of Batal, home to one of the most famous Chachi Chachi Chandra Dhaba. Then we continued our journey on Kaza and Manali Highway while taking a lunch stop in Chhatru. While driving along the Chandra river, we drive through Gramphoo village, and then enter the Atal Tunnel (Rohtang Tunnel) for the journey to Manali and thus enter into the Kullu District. The tunnel is planned to provide an all-weather road that connects Leh as well as Lahaul as well as Spiti valleys within Himachal Pradesh. At the end, we arrive at Manali and then go to our home with an enthralled heart filled with wonderful memories.
